On Wednesday 6th March our Year 14 History pupils along with Head of Department, Mr M. Duffy, attended an A Level conference held at Omagh Academy on the Irish History course studied at A2 Level. Guest speaker, Dr Russell Rees delivered a keynote speech and delivered in depth analysis on the topics of ‘Home Rule’, ‘The Easter Rising’ and ‘The Irish War of Independence’. The pupils really enjoyed the experience, and this is something that will certainly aid in their preparation for their up and coming examinations this summer. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Gregg and Mr Mitchell of the Omagh Academy History Department for their hospitality and for organising the event and of course we would like to thank Dr Rees for sharing with us his unrivalled knowledge and insight on this period of history.
