On Thursday 29th January, Omagh High School travelled to Castlederg for the opening fixture of the McMullan Shield. Castlederg opened the scoring midway through the first half and took this lead into the break.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first, with OHS frustrating Castlederg with their shape and spirited attitude. Despite this, Castlederg scored three quick goals in the final period of the game to run out 4–0 winners.

It was an excellent performance against tough opposition. A special mention to Carter B, Oscar G and Jay I, who were excellent on the day.

Then on Wednesday 4th February, Omagh High School entertained Fivemiletown. It was a dominant first-half display from the boys, with no goals to show for all the good football they had played. Some gilt-edged chances were passed up.

In the second half, the boys came quickly out of the blocks, with Martin L scoring from a long-range effort that flew over the keeper and into the net. OHS had further chances to extend their lead; however, Fivemiletown equalised from a set piece.

OHS piled on late pressure but couldn’t find the winner.
