VE Day at OHS

Pupils and staff from Auchinleck House participated in a simple Act of Remembrance for VE Day, led by Rev. J Nelson and Mrs. I Clarke (Chair of the Board of Governors). It was lovely to hear some personal reflections from Mrs. I Clarke, and Rev. J Nelson reminded us that today is a day not only for sorrow and reflection but also for joy and celebration of the end of the war.

Our pupils were encouraged us to talk to anyone that they know over 80 years old, to hear their stories and experiences of VE Day.

Our canteen had a beautiful tea party organised for our guests, along with VE day themed treats for all pupils. 

Throughout the school, our subjects got involved with cross curricular VE Day themed activities such as codebreakers in Maths, victory celebration freeze frames in Drama, and postcards from the past in English.
