Omagh High School marked Remembrance Day with a poignant assembly centred on the theme “Remembering All Together.” Our entire school community contributed by creating paper poppies for a stunning display, each inscribed with personal reflections on remembrance.

The assembly featured a moving selection of poems, songs, readings and an address by a minister. At 11:00 a.m., we observed a two-minute silence, followed by the laying of wreaths in tribute to those who gave their lives and in remembrance of those within our school community who have been affected by conflict.

After the assembly, we were honoured to welcome the Royal Dragoon Guards and members of the British Army, who delivered an impressive showcase. Students explored historic uniforms, ration books, vintage equipment, musical instruments and even learned CPR techniques. Some even took part in a few military-style push-ups!

As always, Omagh High School places great importance on Remembrance Day, encouraging our students to reflect and be thankful for the sacrifices made so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.
