On Thursday 12th March we hosted our Interview Skills Day for Year 12. The day started with Young Enterprise running a ‘You’re Hired’ session. Fantastic success for OHS at the Omagh Academy Horse Show.  We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Novice Team, who achieved an outstanding 1 st  place at the Omagh Academy Horse Show on the 10 th  of March in the Novice class!  What a fantastic achievement for our pupils!

On Thursday 12th March Year 9 pupils participated in the ‘Blast Off’ event with Young Enterprise. They worked in teams to design a new product, developing their entrepreneurship and business-related skills. A fun and interactive afternoon was enjoyed by all.

We were delighted to celebrate success at Omagh High School with our students who attend the local RDA centre. Our students were presented with their Grade 1 and Grade 2 Riding/horse care Proficiency Test certificates and badges, recognising their fantastic progress and dedication. Some students also received Endeavour Awards in recognition of their hard work and commitment throughout the year. As always, a massive thank you must go to our wonderful classroom assistant team

Excellent effort from our Year 8 hockey team today! They travelled to Castlederg High School for their first match. Despite conceding three early goals, the team fought back with real determination and created some fantastic chances.

On Wednesday 4th of March our Year 8 pupils attended an exhibition on the Bible entitled “Journey to where” in the assembly hall.  They were able to discover new information about the Bible and its meaning for Christians today complementing their work in the classroom.   Thanks to the facilitators all pupils found the exhibition interesting and informative.

Another great practice session on Thursday night as our Equestrian Team prepares for the Omagh Academy show today! Both horses and riders worked brilliantly progressing over the jumps as they get ready for the competition. From Omagh High to NI Finalist!  We are bursting with pride to announce that Adam, a Level 3 Light Vehicle Repair apprentice, is a finalist for NI Apprentice of the Year 2026!

Our Under 16 Rugby team faced Fivemiletown in the U16 Trophy Quarter Final.  Despite the challenging conditions, the team displayed some impressive rugby.   Although they fell behind in the match, the boys showed great resilience and fought hard to the end.

Our Year 8 boys took part in a very competitive indoor futsal tournament at Omagh Leisure Centre. The boys battled fiercely throughout the group stages, defeating Erne Integrated and Omagh Academy, while narrowly losing out to St Kevin’s, Fivemiletown College, and Devenish College. Well done to the Year 8 boys, who performed, competed, and behaved exceptionally well on the day.

We were delighted to welcome John Magee back to the English Department to lead an informative creative writing workshop with our Year 10 students. They gained valuable skills that will be a real asset as they progress next year to begin their GCSE English journey.

Our Year 9 netball team travelled to St John’s College, Dromore for the first round of the Tyrone & Fermanagh Netball Cup. The girls showed excellent skills, teamwork, and determination throughout the day. They finished a fantastic 3rd place, earning a well-deserved spot in Round 2. On Thursday 29th January, Omagh High School travelled to Castlederg for the opening fixture of the McMullan Shield. Castlederg opened the scoring midway through the first half and took this lead into the break. The second half started in a similar fashion to the first, with OHS frustrating Castlederg with their shape and spirited attitude. Despite this, Castlederg scored three quick goals in the final period of the game to run out 4–0 winners. It was an excellent performance
