Our HE Cookery Club has been busy all November, finishing off with a festive afternoon of baking fun! Pupils created brilliant Christmas-themed treats, from reindeer to cake pops to snowmen.

Our U14B Hockey Team put in a fantastic performance against Omagh Academy on Monday! 🏑 Great teamwork, impressive skill, and some brilliant saves from our keeper Grace A. Despite conceding two early goals, the match was evenly contested, and we were unlucky not to put away a few of our chances.  Well done! 🌟

On Wednesday 19th November, Omagh High School made the trip to Limavady High School to play their final group stage game in Pool 5. The boys played some excellent rugby in the first half, taking them into a commanding position going into the second period.   The game followed a similar pattern in the second half, with OHS being extremely dominant in all departments and eventually winning the game 43-0.   This was a terrific team performance in some difficult conditions. Our weekly visits to the Omagh RDA Centre have been incredible for our students! 🌟 🐴  Their confidence is soaring, with some now trotting and leading on their own. Thank you to our brilliant classroom assistants who accompany them…the students look forward to this every week!

Omagh High School marked Remembrance Day with a poignant assembly centred on the theme “Remembering All Together.”  Our entire school community contributed by creating paper poppies for a stunning display, each inscribed with personal reflections on remembrance. The assembly featured a moving selection of poems, songs, readings and an address by a minister. This week, our Year 10 French students are taking their lessons on le corps to the next level by learning CPR in French! From mastering life-saving techniques to practicing key vocabulary, they’re blending language learning with practical skills in an immersive experience. Bravo tout le monde!

With COP30 taking place in Brazil this month, our Year 14 Geographers, Millie S and Blake D, stepped into the global spotlight at Belfast Castle. They joined over 80 students from 28 schools for a full simulation of the international climate change conference. Representing Egypt as part of the Developing Nations, both students showed incredible skill in negotiating and lobbying for deals to reduce global warming. Our U16 girls’ netball team travelled to Sacred Heart College on Friday 14th November for the Shield Final.  The girls played brilliantly, showing fantastic skill and determination, and finished in 2nd place! Huge congratulations to Sacred Heart College on becoming well-deserved champions. A special well done to Amber B and Eliza McC who were named Omagh High School’s players of the tournament!

Our students brightened up the school by swapping part of their uniform for something purple or yellow—all to help raise money for Sands NI, whose colours they proudly wore.  So much colour for an amazing cause! ✨

On Monday 3rd November, we were proud to host the Tyrone Netball Blitz, welcoming teams from Sacred Heart College, St John’s Dromore, and St Ciaran’s College Ballygawley. Our Year 8 students had a fantastic visit to the Scarlett Thread exhibition at St Columba’s Church of Ireland in Omagh.  They explored the stories behind the books of the Bible and admired the incredible craftsmanship on display, each piece representing a different book in a creative and thoughtful way. Thank you to the volunteers who guided our students and helped them complete their quiz sheets.

Representatives from our school community Head Boy Dillon E, Head Girl Sarah R, Deputy Head Boy Luke G, and Deputy Head Girls Mylie G and Leanna H laid a wreath at the Omagh Cenotaph in honour of all who gave their lives in service and sacrifice. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Our Scripture Union group were spreading some smiles and sunshine amongst our staff by hand delivering some ‘Time for a Break’ cups. Exodus 33v14 “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” What a lovely treat. Thank you SU!

We had a truly wonderful morning celebrating the harvest season, with the event thoughtfully organised by Mrs. Busby and Crevenagh House. The stage was beautifully adorned with a vibrant display of harvest-themed decorations for everyone to admire. We welcomed representatives from Women's Aid, Omagh Hospital Road Community Centre, St Vincent de Paul, and Care for Cancer, who received food bag donations generously contributed by our students. At the end of September, we said farewell to two highly valued members of staff here at Omagh High School, Mr W. Quigley and Mrs G. Quigley. Mrs Quigley devoted 38 years of outstanding service to Omagh High School and was a deeply respected and cherished colleague throughout her time here. Last week, our Year 13 Geography students embraced the crisp autumn air during a fantastic two-day residential at Magilligan. From exploring the stunning landscapes of the Umbra, Binevenagh, and Mussenden Temple to getting hands-on with soil science, data analysis, and fieldwork inquiry.
